Fedora 20 comes up with a beautiful Gnome 3.10 desktop. I was live testing Fedora 20 the other day with my Dell laptop and I noticed one thing. The touchpad tap did not result in a mouse click. Cursor moved with the touchpad, click worked with the touchpad buttons but click did not work when I tapped the touchpad. Also, edge scrolling was not working in Gnome 3.10.

In this quick tip, we shall see how to enable touchpad click and edge scrolling in Gnome 3.10 with Fedora 20.

Enable touchpad click and edge scrolling in Gnome 3.10:

If you are not new to Fedora, just follow this path to enable touchpad click: System Settings-> Hardware-> Mouse & Touchpad-> Tap to click. Check yes to Tap to click.

And to enable edge scrolling in Gnome 3.10, follow similar path: System Settings-> Hardware-> Mouse & Touchpad-> Two finger scroll. Clear the check on Two finger scroll. This will disable the two finger scrolling and thus the default behavior i.e. edge scrolling comes in to effect.

You don’t need to reboot or anything. It will start working immediately.

Steps with screenshots for beginners:

If you are a beginner and does not know where to go around in Gnome 3.10 for these settings, please follow the same instructions with screenshots.

Press Super Key (Windows Key) and type Settings. You will find the System Settings here:
Enable touchpad click gnome 3.10 Fedora

In System Settings, under the Hardware section, click on Mouse & Touchpad.
Enable touchpad click gnome 3.10 Fedora

In the Mouse & Touchpad, you will see the options of Tap to click and Two finger scroll. To enable touchpad click, tick the Tap to click option and to enable edge scrolling, clear the check on Two finger scroll. Like this:

Interestingly, I have faced similar issues in other Linux distributions as well and not just Fedora. Edge scrolling was not working in Ubuntu 13.10 while touchpad click did not work in Linux Mint 16 by default. I hope this quick tip to help you fix the issue of touchpad click in Gnome 3.10.
